This Privacy Policy describes how GroupSkip (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit our marketing website at groupskip.com (the “Site”), use our skip tracing application at app.groupskip.com (the “App”), or otherwise interact with our services (collectively, the “Services”).
We believe privacy policies should be readable, so we have written this in plain language. If you have questions about anything here, contact us at the address listed at the bottom of this page.
This policy is provided for informational purposes and does not constitute legal advice. You should consult an attorney for advice specific to your situation.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information. When you create an account through the App, we collect your name, email address, and any other information you provide during registration. Account authentication is handled by our third-party provider, Clerk.com.
- Payment information. When you subscribe or purchase services, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number, bank account number, or other sensitive payment details on our servers. Stripe may collect and store this information in accordance with its own privacy policy.
- Search inputs. When you use the App to perform skip traces, you provide property addresses, names, and other identifying information about the people you are searching for.
- Communications. If you contact us for support or other inquiries, we collect the content of those communications along with your contact information.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data. When you use the App, we may collect information about how you interact with the service, including features used, searches performed, and timestamps.
- Device and browser information. We may collect your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, and similar technical information through server logs.
- Cookies and similar technologies. Our marketing site at groupskip.com does not currently use cookies or tracking technologies. The App may use cookies or local storage for session management and authentication. We will update this policy before introducing any analytics or advertising cookies.
2. Skip Tracing Data
GroupSkip is a skip tracing tool that helps real estate investors locate property owners and related parties. This section explains how skip tracing data is handled.
- Data sources. Skip tracing results are obtained from third-party consumer data aggregators. We do not independently compile consumer data. The data we return may include names, phone numbers, email addresses, mailing addresses, and information about associated persons derived from public records and other commercially available sources.
- Permissible use. Skip tracing data provided through our Services is intended for lawful purposes, including real estate marketing and investment outreach. You may not use the data for any purpose prohibited by applicable law, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). GroupSkip is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the FCRA, and our Services do not constitute consumer reports. You may not use our data for credit decisions, employment screening, tenant screening, insurance underwriting, or any other purpose covered by the FCRA.
- Your responsibility. You are responsible for complying with all applicable laws when using skip tracing data, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), state telemarketing laws, and Do Not Call regulations. GroupSkip does not monitor or control how you use the data after it is delivered to you.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Services
- Process your searches and deliver skip tracing results
- Process payments and manage your subscription
- Authenticate your identity and manage your account
- Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
- Send transactional communications (such as receipts, account updates, and service announcements)
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or technical issues
- Comply with legal obligations
- Enforce our Terms of Service
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information to build advertising profiles or serve targeted ads.
4. How We Share Your Information
We share your information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. We share information with third-party providers who perform services on our behalf, including payment processing (Stripe), authentication (Clerk), and data aggregation for skip tracing. These providers are contractually obligated to use your information only to provide services to us.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental regulation, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
- Business transfers. If GroupSkip is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change and any choices you may have regarding your information.
- With your consent. We may share your information with third parties when you have given us explicit consent to do so.
5. Third-Party Services
Our Services integrate with the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy policy governing how it handles your data:

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account information and search history for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your account, we retain your data so that you can reactivate your account and access your previous results. You may request permanent deletion of your data by contacting us using the information provided below.
We may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes, such as fraud prevention and enforcing our Terms of Service.
7. Data Security
We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption of data in transit, secure authentication through Clerk, and access controls limiting who can view user data.
No method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and any applicable regulatory authorities as required by law. Notification will include the nature of the breach, the types of information involved, and the steps we are taking in response.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:
- Access and portability. You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction. You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
- Deletion. You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions (such as legal obligations or fraud prevention).
- Opt out of sale. We do not sell your personal information. If this changes in the future, we will provide an opt-out mechanism and update this policy.
California residents
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise your rights, contact us using the information below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Residents of other states with privacy laws
Several other states, including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, and others, have enacted comprehensive privacy laws. If you reside in one of these states, you may have similar rights to access, correct, delete, or opt out of certain processing of your personal information. Contact us to exercise any applicable rights.
How we process rights requests
When you submit a request to access, correct, or delete your personal information, we may need to verify your identity before processing the request. We will respond to verifiable requests within 45 days. If we need additional time, we will inform you of the reason and the expected timeline.
Do Not Track signals
Our Services do not currently respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that we are required to follow, we will update this policy accordingly.
9. Information About People in Skip Tracing Results
If your personal information (such as your name, phone number, or address) appears in skip tracing results delivered through our Services, that information was obtained from third-party consumer data aggregators that compile data from public records and other commercially available sources. GroupSkip does not independently collect this data.
If you would like to request the removal of your information from our third-party data sources, we recommend contacting the data aggregator directly. You may also contact us, and we will make commercially reasonable efforts to direct you to the appropriate party or to suppress your information from future results delivered through our platform.
If skip tracing results contain information about a person under the age of 18, that data should not be used to contact the minor. If you believe a minor’s information has appeared in results delivered through our Services, contact us and we will take steps to suppress that information from future results.
10. Children’s Privacy
Our Services are not directed to children under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email or through the App. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
