Research
We publish pre-registered studies instead of unsourced hit-rate claims. Every study here has a blueprint committed before any result was observed, a published results file, and the caveats that tell you what it does and doesn't show.
Finding the heirs a skip trace can't: what happened across 171 family members who never lived at the property
A traditional skip trace found the heir 0.6% of the time; group search found them 83.0% of the time, across 171 paired trios on 90 properties.
- Sample:
- 171 paired trios across 90 properties (404 unpaired trios across 196 properties)
- Study completed:

The first result is often wrong: what we measured across 196 records
When the right person is in the results, the data provider's first-listed record is not that person 44.9% of the time (95% CI 36.0%-53.8%).
- Sample:
- 196 scored records across 44-45 searched properties
- Study completed:
- 2026-07-19
Name-only search vs. group search: a 69-pair A/B test
A traditional skip trace returned nothing 65% of the time; group search returned nothing 4% of the time, across 69 paired searches on 22 properties.
- Sample:
- 69 paired searches across 22 properties
- Study completed:
- 2026-07-19
How we ran these studies
Pre-registration, definitions, sampling, and the limitations shared by all three GroupSkip research studies.
- Sample:
- three studies: 69, 196, and 171 observations across 22, 44-45, and 90 properties
- Study completed:
- 2026-07-19 to 2026-07-20
